Jim Burk Antique ShowsJim Burk was working in the real estate business many years ago when he visited an elderly man on North Charlotte Street who wanted to sell his house and move into a retirement home. He noticed the house was filled with older furnishings and asked the man what he planned to do with them. A used furniture dealer was offering a mere $500 for everything, he was told. He offered to get the elderly man a better price and arranged to have the items auctioned. The final tally: $15.000. He had his hands in the antique business ever since.

Jim Burk Antique Shows had its first show in 1968 in New Oxford, taking over for another promoter who had retired. Jim and his wife Donna had been promoting shows together ever since. Jim Burk Antique Shows carries on the tradition of only organizing shows that are for charity. The shows have been streamlined and Jim Burk Antique Shows only promote the Greater York Antiques Show and Sale, which benefits the men's club of the York Y.M.C.A.

Sadly, James Robert "Jim" Burk, passed away on August 3rd, 2008 at the age of seventy-eight. Jim was highly respected in the antique business and he will be greatly missed. His wife, Donna will now be managing the shows and she gives her word that Jim’s legacy of doing business “the old fashioned way” will continue while she is at the reigns.
